Brewster :: My First Summer in the Sierra

22.00

Brewster is a quarterly zine that combines famous historical writings with eye popping stereographs. Each issue includes iconic red and blue lensed 3-D glasses that allow readers to see the historic images within the pages in all their depth and glory.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of Yosemite National Park, the third issue of Brewster travels through the high Sierra mountains and Yosemite Valley, with John Muir as a guide.

The issue features anaglyphs from Eadweard Muybridge, Martin M. Hazeltine and other touring photographers, mostly taken in the late 1800s, including a beautiful shot of John Muir with American president Theodore Roosevelt.

The text that accompanies the images in this issue is adapted from Muir’s book My First Summer In The Sierra, based on a 1869 excursion into the Valley.
